Changbo’s dog is scared

May 3, 2007

Why is Changbo’s dog scared? I guess because it saw a big scary animal like a lion or something. I am sure that everyone will remember this kind of mistake and never forget. I feel like it will be easy to remember because we can make a mental image of the dog that Changbo drew and know that it was scary and not scared. (Sorry Changbo, I thought it was cute.) Anyway, I am sure that my drawing would be worse than anyone else.

In Wednesday’s class we  spent time  taking a listening/drawing test.  The items that we had to draw were: the sun, a fence, a cloud, a cat, a car, a house, a chimney, smoke, a garage, a dog on a leash, a tree, a flower, a glass,  grass, and a walkway.

Next, we had to compare two different pictures to find the differences between them. I was very impressed with everyone in performing this. I heard lots and lots of checking and confirmation and repeating. It was truly a great job. I really felt like people were more worried about finding the answer so they forgot that they were speaking English and just did their best to work with their partner.

There was more drawing on Thursday. This time the pictures were more complicated and came from magazines and newspapers. Partners had to explain their picture to a partner without showing them and the partner had to draw it. I was especially impressed with Rose and Rooney’s drawings.  Next,  we joined bigger groups and had to explain what the drawings were because the (mean) teacher took the photos away. Finally, we had to create a story that used all the pictures. This was a good chance to be creative. I thought it was great how each group made a story to use all the pictures. David, So-eun, Charles, Kate and Lisa’s group made their story in about 3 minutes but it was quite good.

Great job this week! I hope you enjoyed the week, because I did.
I hope you have a great weekend and I will see you on Monday.

Monday’s topic: NO TOPIC!
