FTA talk

Wow.

I was really impressed with class today. I choose what I thought was quite a hard topic but everyone (I mean everyone did very well.) Could you have imagined talking for 20+ minutes about something like an FTA two months ago? I think it would have been very hard. Everyone should be very proud. I know that it was difficult, but I think that you did a great job.

Interestingly, I did not hear very many common errors today.

Please remember that “How do you think about the FTA?” is very strange.
Instead, we should say, “What do you think about the FTA? or
“How do you feel about the FTA?

Some words that came up in class today were:

advantage
agree/agreement
agriculture
compete/competition
competitive advantage
economic/economics
export
import
tariffs
unemployment

Some questions that we thought of about the FTA were:

What do you know about the FTA? Do you have any information about the FTA?
What do you think about the FTA?
How do you feel the FTA?
Are you concerned about the FTA?/Do you care about the FTA?
What motivated Korea to make the agreement?
What are the terms and conditions of the agreement?
What advantages will we get?
What will the disadvantages be?
If we didn’t compromise what would the situation be?
How will the Korean economy change?
What kind of trade will open?
Will jobs increase when the FTA begins?
How should we prepare for the FTA? What do we need to do to prepare for the FTA?
What do you think about the opposition?
Have you ever participated in a demonstration/protest/candlelight vigil?
